Claude Charlemagne Paul Eugene

Born Abbeville, France
Occupation: Newspaper Photographer (Retired)
Nationality: Dual - British/French
He was informed by his father that he was the last of the RAWBONEs! Sent to England to learn English but upon returning to France, his father hardly ever spoke with him in the language!

Worked in London (1948-50) for the Western Union Telegraph company, living in Croydon with Mr & Mrs BALLARD where he met Peter LEGG, who became a great friend. He also trialed for Arsenal FC.

After returning to France for national service - in a photographic section - he joined his fathers newspaper, as a sports photographer until ill health forced his retirement in 1987.

Peter ultimately married Brenda in the late 1940's and forty years later they wrote to the newspaper, Le Courrier Picard , to try and find Claude and invite him to their forthcoming wedding anniversary, not knowing that he worked for the paper! Contact was re-established and the friendship renewed.
